Montrose-La Crescenta Patch Editor Jumps to LAT Community News

After a year and a half at the helm of “the balcony of Los Angeles” for Patch, Nicole Charky (pictured) is moving on up. Starting next month, she joins Los Angeles Times Community News as a Web producer for the expanded territory of Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena and La CaƱada.

In advance of her final day at Patch (January 29), Charky has posted a heartfelt farewell note:

My role as editor gave me the chance to re-explore the geographic puzzle piece La Crescenta local Bill Weisman dubs “Far North Glendale.” During my time at Patch, I toured the Rosemont Preserve with USC professor of pharmacology Jim Adams and learned how Chumash Indians used plants as medicine; helped organize a historic bike ride through Montrose with Tropico Station’s Scott Lowe, Walk Bike Glendale and the Glendale Historical Society; met with a dedicated neighborhood watch group led by Glendale Police Department and even reconnected with childhood friends.
